Description:
Okayu in Japanese means rice porridge and is usually served when someone is ill.
Ingredients:
1 cup of rice
5 cups of water
1 egg
1 Umeboshi (Japanese dried plum)
Bonito fish flakes
Soysauce
Directions:
1.
Start with 1 cup of rice and 5 cups of water. Cook on low heat for 30 to 40 minutes stirring every once-in-a-while.
2.
5 minutes before the cooking time is up, add an egg and stir. Cover and cook for 5 minutes more. Turn off heat and remove from stove.
3.
Let stand for 10 minutes covered. Just before serving, add some Bonito fish flakes and Umeboshi (Japanese dried plum) and Soysauce to taste.
